RCSC will not reopen pools, spas and fitness centers in Sun City – Your Valley

Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey announced May 12 that pools, spas and gyms in the state can reopen, but that will not be happening any time soon in Sun City.

Recreation Centers of Sun City officials do have a phased reopening plan in place, but are not prepared to open facilities, even on a small scale, so quickly. RCSC cardholders were informed May 12 via an email blast of the decision to hold off on reopening pools, spas and fitness centers.

“This is exciting news and RCSC is very anxious to get its facilities re-opened and available to cardholders,” RCSC officials stated in the email.

However, they let cardholders know implementing a reopening was not feasible in the short period of time since the governor’s announcement. Part of the reason is that RCSC officials have not received all the necessary personal protective equipment and supplies necessary.

“We recognize that many of you are very anxious to get back into the pools and fitness centers,” officials stated. “However, it is vitally important that we are able to do so with the safety and sanitation protocols in place to protect both cardholders and staff.”

RCSC officials did not spell out their reopening plan in the email, but stated phase one of the plan would require strict physical distancing and sanitizing protocols.

“We promise that we will open as soon as possible,” RCSC officials stated.
