June 14 (Renewables Now) – France’s Neoen SA (EPA:NEOEN) has expanded to 1 GW its portfolio of renewable power plants in operation or under construction in its home country.
The renewable power producer announced the milestone in a bourse filing on Thursday. At present, the company owns 55 generation facilities in operation, plus 22 under construction in France.
Neoen’s French fleet includes solar photovoltaic (PV) and wind parks, as well as battery storage systems. Among its largest assets at home is the 300-MW Cestas solar farm near Bordeaux, which went live back in 2015.
Neoen noted it has spent more than EUR 1 billion (USD 1.21bn) on projects in the French renewable energy market. The French firm aims to have 10 GW of renewable energy capacity in operation or under construction globally by 2025, with an interim goal of over 5 GW by end-2021.
“Indeed, France will account for a significant share of the 10 GW capacity we are aiming to attain by 2025,” said chairman and CEO Xavier Barbaro.
