LENA — The Lena Community District Library recently installed a solar photovoltaic system for its renovated facility.
Stateline Solar, local solar energy installation company, was responsible for the design and installation of the solar system.
This system consists of 34 solar panels and will provide 63% of the library’s electrical consumption. Installing this solar system is estimated to be the equivalent of planting over 7,000 trees and offsetting the carbon footprint of two cars on the road.
The Lena Public Library is able to take advantage of several incentives that reduce the cost of going solar. There is a federal tax credit, currently at 26% for solar installations, along with a ComEd Smart Inverter Rebate, and Solar Renewable Energy Credits. All of these incentives help a facility reduce daily operating costs.
