I stand with Israel and her people:

“I just heard the news on the television about the BDS movement that’s ongoing against Israel. I’m totally appalled by this ongoing assault against Israel and her people. Does anybody realize that Palestinians actually work in Israel and they make very good money? By boycotting Israel, you are taking jobs away from the Palestinians, too. Are you all crazy? So the U.N. has now created a black list of companies that they say should not do business with Israel. I suggest to all those companies to double and triple your trading and your business with Israel. Just shove it right back in their face because Israel has a right to exist. Her people have a right to live there. And I stand with Israel and her people. … I urge everyone else to do the same.”

Trump not a great president:

“Kirk Douglas was on the front page of the paper the other day because he was a great actor and a great American. Sorry that (Donald Trump’s picture) wasn’t on the front page. … He’s conned everyone to think he’s a great president. He’s not a great president. A great president wouldn’t divide a country. He’s supposed to be president to all Americans, not just to people who like him. … So he’s not a great president. … He is a great actor though. He whines all the time on the internet.”

— Rodney Guessford,

Hagerstown

Not crazy about choices:

“My main hope for the November election is that Trump goes down in flames as a one-term president. To that end, I will vote for whomever is running against Trump. That said, with Sanders and Bloomberg rising in the polls, I have to admit that I am not crazy about voting for a geriatric socialist who has recently had a heart attack or someone trying to buy the election and is dragging around more political baggage than the chain Jacob Marley dragged in ‘A Christmas Carol.’”

Some commissioners oppose solar farms:

“What’s wrong with our county commissioners? Climate change is definitely harming our environment. But (some) commissioners are opposed to every solar farm proposed for our county. Why? Solar farms produce free electricity with no pollution. If a property owner wants a solar farm on their property, whether it is a farm or commercial property, why are (some) county commissioners so dead set against it? Gov. Larry Hogan has an aggressive plan to cut greenhouse-gas emissions in Maryland. This can only be achieved by building solar and wind farms. Why can’t our commissioners get on board with green energy projects?”

‘Love Letters’ gets lots of love:

“Yesterday, we spent a delightful afternoon at the Washington County Playhouse with actors Joan Crooks and Steve Steele in the play ‘Love Letters.’ They read a lifetime of letters exchanged throughout their busy and separate lives — wonderful show. This little playhouse and dinner theater is another Hagerstown treasure. ‘Love Letters’ returns on March 22 and 26.”

Trump and Douglas:

“Yes, Olga Amatucci, I agree with you. It would have been much better if there had been a big picture of Donald Trump combined with a story of the impeachment acquittal. I am relieved that he got a big headline anyway. Kirk Douglas was an admired and an accomplished actor. His story still could have been on the front page the same day. I often thought that more stories about President Trump should be on page one, but maybe it’s because I am such a strong supporter of President Trump and ‘Keep America Great.’ I, too, enjoy The Herald-Mail and Olga Amatucci’s contributions to Feedback, partly because they are so memorably emphatic.”
